Urushi lacquer is sap drawn from the lacquer trees.
Urushi is the material that has been there for Japanese culture and rooted in Japanese tradition since immemorial.
漆はウルシの木の幹から抽出した樹液です。主成分ウルシオールが酸化し固まると、アルカリや酸、アルコールに対する耐久性とともに、水や熱にも強い塗料となります。日本では縄文期から漆が生活に根付いていたとされるほど、漆は遥か昔から日本文化を支えてきた素材です。
